A couple of years ago, our friends from Ibiza, @creativesfortheplanet joined Ecopazifico beach clean-up operations and art projects on the pacific coast of Colombia. Since then we have been supporting each other activities in any way we can!

Here are a few images of our collaboration! Our amazing volunteers as usual rocking it hard to collect, classify, wash and weigh recyclable materials.

This year For the Planet is supporting our organizations’ efforts to remove waste from coastal communities of Colombia and implement recycling systems in remote areas that do not have landfills and that the only way to get rid of is by burning and burying the trash in those fragile ecosystems.

In the first trimester of this year, we already removed 7 tons of plastic glass, metals, styrofoam, and flip flops.

We are extremely grateful to For the Planet for supporting our foundation’s team, our local Beach Rangers, and our formidable volunteers that make it all happen!

We will be organizing some more beach clean-up adventures with our group of Formidables in the Caribbean, Atlantic, and pacífic Coasts of Colombia, and we really hope You can join us!

Tierra Bomba now has its second recycling station located in Punta Arena.

During the socialization and environmental education process, the community was asked to follow 3 steps to mitigate plastic pollution on beaches, trails, and marshes.

Thanks to our #Guardaplayas, and our alliance with the @guadia_ambiental_colombia, Asocomangle, and @fundacion_bahia the proposal was very well accepted by the community.

These steps are:

Separate waste at home.

Do not burn or bury waste.

Keep the surroundings of the house clean at all times.

During this week of Permaculture, awareness, socialization and environmental education, we also created a mural of #Mapare collected in beach clean-ups together with our @amigosdelmar @marion.ve

We celebrate our recycling station #2 in the beautiful community of punta arena, with a beach clean up, where 21 volunteers participated and collected:

-Ordinary: 28.61 Kg

-Glass: 8.16 Kg

-Profitable: 14.86 kg

This clean-up was carried out from the new Mapare mural in the community, passing through the recycling stations 2 and 1 and ending at the @NamasteBeachClub hotel facilities where we carry out constant beach cleaning and environmental education work in the community.

People passing around the place will already have a station available to deposit plastic, glass, metal, and plastic wrap in an orderly manner, as both the #guardaplayas, @veoliacartagena, and #Asocomangle, make sure to collect, weigh, the materials that are deposited here and also keep the stations clean.

Thank you #FundacionCocaCola
and @CocaColaCol for joining Ecopazifico!

This was our adventure in Capurganá!

This dream began with our dear friend @kuku_sub from @ikariadivinghostel and our meeting at @karenspizzaoficial , when we began to visualize the recycling stations in Acandí, and this 2021, this dream has manifested thanks to the support of @cocacacolacol #FundacionCocaCola .

EcoPazifico arrived at a very opportune moment in the community of Capurganá! The APRESERVAR hotel guild has been working for several years on this type of space for the proper disposal of waste in the area, the @plasticaware_colombia foundation had started an environmental education program with young people in the territory, and JACASEP, the community council’s sanitation company, was already in the process of closing the open dump and opening a sanitary landfill with the full force of the law.

The Capurganá community council is well aware that the best waste is that which is not generated, and that garbage is only garbage when it is not recycled. However, the challenges of good waste management are very similar to those of the other coastal territories of Colombia we know.

During the month of April, we were socializing the arrival of the new recycling stations in the community, and during the permaculture week, we made a beautiful mural with MAPARE, in which children from 0 to 100 years old participated. It was directed by the Great-Goddess ALEJANDRA GUTIÉRREZ and our friend and local artist NIÑO DIOS. As always we are infinitely grateful to all the people who supported our initiative and especially to #FundacionCocaCola and @cocacacolacol for contributing to the cleanliness of the beaches of our beautiful Colombia.

During the week of installation, and creation of the Mapare Mural, the Ecopazifico team, and the youth of the educational program of @plasticaware_colombia we visited the beaches between “Plan Parejo” and “Bahía Aguacate” to leave them cleaner and according to the majestic landscape of that beautiful paradise!

We collected 516 kilos in two days in only 2 kilometers.

A part of the collected material was used in the creation of the mural that @alejandragutierrez463 created and the other part went to the JACASEP collection center, where “Chucho” the town recycler, shreds or packs it, to send it to the interior of the country, but hopefully soon these Recyclable materials can be transformed and marketed in the same community.

The participants won as a prize, bamboo toothbrushes, sent to us by our friends from @almarsoluciones to strengthen these educational programs in the coastal communities of Colombia! As in all of Colombia’s coastal communities, this is quite a challenge. However, we are very happy to be able to do our bit in this beautiful paradise.

his beautiful station was built in the city of Cartagena by our friends from the plastic wood factory, @ecoazulco, and moved to Capurganá by our National Army of Colombia that has supported us so much in this type of activity.

The infographic of this station, created by our wonderful Bibiana Gonzáles Rocha, invites tourism to follow

3 simple steps to reduce plastic pollution in this territory and in any corner of the planet.

1. Use reusable utensils such as thermos, cups, bags, straws, etc…

2. Help clean up the beach.

3. Return home with your waste and recycle it!

Thanks to #FundacionCocaCola for supporting these important initiatives for our planet right now. @cocacolacol 👊

How to Build a raised bed garden!

During our second round of Permaculture action week, we looked to strengthen the recycling system that we have been co-creating with the communities of the majestic territory of @parquescolombia URAMBA BAHIA MALAGA.

During this week, our team of environmental education continued to socialize the new recycling stations that we are being installed in the community of Ladrilleros and soon, in La Barra.

These socialization are really important, because if the people in the community are not informed about this new recycling system in the territory, it would be useless to install these beautiful structures.

Our project is mainly dedicated to children and young people so, we wanted to remind the new generation the ancestral way of growing food in the Pacific region, through the creation of “azoteas”, which means a vegetable garden, that is raised to sow herbs and vegetables.

In the territory, we have learned that in ecosystems rich like these. Where there is abundance, biodiversity, rains, or drought, growing food can be a challenge.

For this reason, we have designed an easy and simple structure to build, which protects the animals crops, and also the jungle trees. Because our main proposal it is to build with logs that reach the beaches with the tides.

Our formidable team being from the territory, know in depth the dynamics of these communities and thanks to this. We have always managed to create spaces where we can transmit this valuable information that it is always warmly received by people.

In this week, we joined with the environmental Ladrilleros committee, people helped to cleanup of the community and the beach. The Ecopazifico team and volunteers went to the beach, where tons of micro plastics, and styrofoam, which was almost impossible to collect, as these are mixed with the logs, sticks, and leaves that also it is arrive with the tides to these beautiful beaches.

Our team thanks the Ladrilleros environmental committee for their efforts to beautify the community, since they understand that the planet belongs to everyone!

We were able to collect:

8 sacks of PET bottles.

6 sacks of glass.

3 sacks of flip flops.

1 sack of caps.

The dream of seeing recycling stations throughout Juanchaco, Ladrilleros, and La Barra, it is manifesting itself, and we could not be more proud of this!

Thanks to #FundacionCocacola we were able to install this beautiful recycling station in the Ladrilleros Community.

In this season, we learn to make azorras , that it is raised gardens, typical traditions of the Colombian Pacific region. This is important to grow herbs and vegetables protecting crops from excess sun, water, and, animals.

Infinite thanks to #FundacionCocacola @Cocacolacol for supporting our initiative and helping us keep the beaches of our Pacific clean.

Always grateful to the Community Juanchaco & Ladrilleros, and La Barra council for believing in a better planet for future generations of their communities; #ASOTUR; @Fundancestral #ECOURAMBA.

The Recycling Station #2 of the “Mapare Eco Trail“ is today a Reality. (Mapare = Material to revive, Plastic fragments that just lay on the beach).
The Colombian Shoe and Bag Company OQ Shoes and the actress Claudia Bahamon, got together to create the line OQ By Claudia B, inspired in the pacific nature, to support Ecopazifico’s recycling system.

Juanchaco has now another recycling station where people can deposit Mapare of different Colors in 4 different bins.

Infinite gratitude for joining our efforts and help Ecopazifico clean the beaches of our majestic Pacific coast of Colombia.
